About Me
I am Sangeeta Bordoloi Lama, an enthusiastic and dedicated educator, deeply passionate about nurturing young minds. As an open-minded, optimistic, and hard-working teacher, I bring enthusiasm and empathy to every classroom, always striving to create an environment where students feel supported and inspired to reach their full potential. In my diverse teaching career, I have made it my mission to help students grow academically and develop a lifelong sense of confidence and curiosity.

I hold a teaching license from the District of Columbia and earned my certification through Moreland University, where I also completed a Master’s in Early Childhood Education. My curiosity about global education models led me to pursue an International Baccalaureate PYP certification from the University of Windsor in Canada, which broadened my approach to teaching and learning. I have a deep understanding of the American Common Core curriculum, gained over ten years of classroom experience, and have taught everything from elementary math to English for adults.
In my nearly 14 years of teaching experience, I have spent a year teaching English to diplomats, 5 years as a math teacher for elementary grades and Grade 8 at Contofield International School in Dushanbe, and 2 years as an Elementary School Homeroom Teacher at Quality Schools International, Dushanbe. Currently, I run Teach English volunteer programs through my initiative, Teach Today for Tomorrow.

One of my most fulfilling accomplishments is founding Teach Today for Tomorrow, an initiative born from a desire to give back to my community. What started as a small act of support for a local government primary school has evolved into a meaningful movement, creating lasting bonds and offering countless students the opportunity to thrive.

Before transitioning to education, I spent a decade working in the insurance industry as Country Claims Manager and Financial Lines Specialist with the American International Group in India, Sri Lanka, and South Africa. I also hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management and a Bachelor's degree in Economics.

My teaching journey began tentatively, but it soon became apparent that this was my true calling. I thrive on engaging with curious, energetic students, especially those who may initially struggle with academics. Guiding them toward mastering their studies and gaining self-confidence is a cornerstone of my teaching philosophy. I believe that when students feel empowered, their potential is limitless.

Outside the classroom, I am a keen traveler, a passionate reader, and an avid cook. I also enjoy connecting with new people.

My teaching philosophy is rooted in the wisdom of my first teacher, my mother, Kalpana Bordoloi, who is also an educator and who believes that "Education is the bridge between where you are and where you dream to be; it gives you the wings to rise and the wisdom to soar beyond the stars." I aim to ensure that every student who steps into my classroom feels valued, believed in, and capable of achieving greatness. I am committed to fostering an environment where students feel free to explore, make mistakes, and grow academically and personally.
